SPOLIER ALERT!! Don't read further if you don't want to know...

It's a bit hard to describe the ending unless you know the the story-line about the two of them living two years apart. Alex is in 2004 and Kate is in 2006. It's a Hollywood movie... it has a happy ending. We find out it was his father that built the lake house and her boyfriend turns out to be Alex's brother. It is so confusing. Alex died in the beginning of the movie (while crossing the street to reach her) and by the end of the movie, she figures out who the stranger was that died in her arms and she writes him to wait two more years and come to the lake house... and they meet up. I'm still confused. LOL

Spoiler alert.

We liked it. Her letter-writing-bfriend is Alex. Alex's brother is the other architect. Her bfriend is someone else.

I got a little tired of SB's sadness. Get rid of the bfriend! LOL. Start to sing to your babies (that you will have with letter-writing-Alex.)

I said to my daughter, that if fate would determine that he'd always die on his way to meet her, waiting two years wouldn't make any difference.

Still we liked the movie and would see it again. Dear Daughter wants to own it eventually.

What clothes, did Keanu wear? Shoes, too . . .

He was in construction, so jeans and jacket. At the end, he wore a tan, wide ribbed turtleneck and matching suede jacket.

I loved this movie! It was based on an Italian film, Il Mare, which was the name of the restaurant where they were supposed to meet. I wonder if the Italian version had a happy ending. Generally, foreigh films are more realistic, but Americans demand happy endings.

I loved the sexual tension right before they kissed. So erotic!

I thought Morgan, her ex-boyfriend, would end up Keanu's wannabe girlfriend.

One hole in the story -- since she knew who he was, why didn't she try to find him in 2006?

I agree that parts were confusing because you weren't sure which year they were in, especially at the end when Alex and his brother got off the elevator together, but only the brother met with Morgan and Kate.

I keep jumping back to edit this while I can: I thought Kate was going to save Alex's life until I realized he was the first guy who got hit at the beginning.

It reminded me of the Reese Witherspoon movie about her being a ghost. How Fate rules our lives -- we are meant to be with someone -- even when things seem to be going in a different direction.

Thanks, PerfumeMe . . . I'd read that Keanu portrayed an architect, so I figured he wore a variety of clothes. Keanu has a great carriage, and looks terrific in just about anything. I'll try to see the movie, this week . . .

You shouldn't have read this, Armanis. We've spoiled it for you. Although, I get the feeling you will still enjoy 'the view' (Keanu!).

Forgot to mention that the supporting actors -- the two older women and Christopher Plummer -- blew our stars out of the water. One of the women with a very odd name, was on Will & Grace recently, playing a Muslim or Arab assistant to Grace. Very funny bit.

Wasn't there a made for TV movie (a Hallmark Hall of Fame) about a couple who wrote each other by putting letters in an antique rolltop desk? It was very touching as I recall...in the end one went to the cemetary to view the gravestone and a young lady approached to tend the grave.

Anyone remember?

I think I know which movie you are talking about, Susan. I think the woman was in the 19th century and the man was in 20th century.

Yup, that's it! It was a very touching story, well done. Of course, I was blubbering like a damn fool at the end.

Here it is! "The Love Letter", probably better than "Lake House":

Click to view attachmentNaw, you didn't spoil, anything . . . love stories are not my preference, anyhow. But I ADMIRE anyone who stays in superb shape, and who has a stylish carriage, and knows how to show it off! Keanu, can really wear clothes!
