Today in Safeway I went to buy a cabbage.
They were all quite small.
They were 7.00 each!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the heck has happened? I assume there must have been a Great Cabbage Disaster on par with the Great Banana Disaster but cabbages don't make great press so I have never heard about it.
A quarter of a cabbage, which in this case was about the size of a crumpet, was 2,45.

Noooooo.... only the huge toad plague.
I used to love toads as a kid and I kind of wish we had some of those suckers down here. I've never seen one.

Yes Ladyjicky the cane toads are quite repulsive but there aren't many around here anymore. I don't know where they're gone, we used to have heaps, but they honestly seemed to have all but disappeared.

Oh my you have no idea how big those toads grow. I grew up in North Queensland where they are really bad. One of my Grandmothers' used to live next to a zoo and they had one bottled to look at - this one was about 13-15 inches high, and almost just as round. I do not like them at all.
Innisfail lost a number of large amounts of crops - the banana was the worst. Avocados were also a huge loss. They haven't mentioned the Nerada tea plantation just outside of Innisfail. I wonder how that faired?
Yes, we are getting cane toads again in Brisbane - they did seem to disappear for a while but they're back.
