There was an article on the pet page of yesterday's NYPost about a new product called Pet Pockets with versions for both cats and dogs (although I've never met a dog that needed this). They are tiny, flavored, sticky pockets into which you insert the pill you need to give your pet. Tiny (very tiny for cats, slightly larger for dogs) and flavored (chicken and salmon for cats, chicken and beef for dogs) for obvious reasons. They're sticky because cat owners will tell you that cats can eat every morsel of food you give them to hide the pill and still not eat the pill. The animal can't eat the coating and avoid the pill. They come in bags of 45 for around $7-$9. Unfortunately, the article doesn't say where you can buy them. This sounds like a fabulous idea to me!!!!

Does sound great, but my cats won' even eat treats, so it won't work for me. Fortunately, they are not hard to pill.

Petsmart has ones for dogs I see.

Here's a cat one:

Hey, worth a try. Thanks for posting this.

When I was searching for places to buy these, I discovered that the actual name is Pill Pockets. The Petco and Petland chains, among others, carry them.

If I had a cat, I'd sure try this. The person who can give a cat a pill is a genius, in my opinion.

The only "easy" cat I ever had - the beautiful, sleek, jet black Cleo, could hide a pill like Houdini. We would clamp our hand over her mouth for an hour so she wouldn't spit it out. We would watch while she swallowed many times. When we finally released her, she retrieved it from some hidden pocket and spit it out like a nasty piece of chewing tobacco. And this was my "good" cat. The others got so upset they pooped on me, scratched and bit and did more unspeakable kitty damage. I guess I don't have a commanding enough personality. When attempting medical procedures, my pets always intimidated me
