This story was on CBS local news last night and the story just makes me sick.
This dog is so sweet, I don't know what kind of sick creep did this but I hope whoever did it will be caught somehow. I believe there is a special place in h*ll for these type of sick people.
Anyway, the dog is recovering- hopefully this OC rescue will be able to keep taking care of him.

I can't go to the link, LA . . . animal abuse, gives me nightmares and makes me want to stop the world, and get off . . . I witnessed a kitten being tortured, when I was in fifth grade . . . will NEVER get over it . . .
I hope the culprits are caught, and punished. Thank God for organizations like the Animal Legal Defense, Fund . . . and any other charity that fights cruelty to animals.

I just saw this on the news a few minutes ago. I cannot bear to see or hear about the abuse of animals or children. Unforgivable.

WHY do people, enjoy abusing innocent creatures? I've read that eventual killers / hitmen / psychotic murderers, begin their 'craft,' by torturing animals. Stellar.

Sick b******s. They are the most innocent creatures. All they want is love and affection and be part of the family.

Oh, those photos aren't so bad... Like I said, I was raised on a a farm, and saw things that were MUCH, MUCH worse (I'll spare you). All I can say is, Never seek to inquire from whence cometh the meat on your family dinner table.
But the meanness that went INTO this action is pretty reprehensible.
But I imagine that the perpetrator-- from my having watched lots of crime/forensic television-- was Young (15--25), White (Blacks, Hispanics and Asians don't usually do this kind of thing), and Male (natch).
He probably came from a household of violence where his Dad did a variety of crazed, mean things. This kid was probably abused himself, in one way or another. Probably had learning disorders, didn't do well at school. Might also be a firebug in other areas (household arson, etc.). May have been a bedwetter.

Sadly, with my volunteer work with local shelters, I've seen abuse like this far too often.
Still...looking at those pictures made me burst into tears.
I've never 'hardened'...and I honestly don't think most people in the line of rescuing do. They just learn to suck-it-up better, much like good nurses who work with terminal cases.
There should be a hell on earth for these abusers.
I can't tell you the anger I've felt when I've encountered people who have done this kind of thing.
I know Justice will find a good home, and new and worthy 'owners'. I hope the rest of his days are spent in total comfort...and that he is showered with love, each and every day.

I'm not going to read the story, LA...just reading the comments, I know it will upset me horribly. People who hurt kids, old people and animals are in the First Ring of Hell, IMHO.

I'll tell you what this person ISN'T!
-he isn't a human being
He also has NO HEART!
I don't care WHAT kind of a life you have been through, you do NOT hurt & abuse another!
I don't think ANY of us have had a perfect childhood. I know I didn't, but I NEVER wanted to hurt another human OR an animal. If you had a bad life, you go on to make life better.....for you, & those around you.
You cannot go back and change your life or your childhood, but you CAN go on to make sure YOU are a better person.
Give me an hour with the person who did this, and I bet he will never do it again!
And you know what, I have seen MEAN & EVIL come in ALL colors & from all ethnic backgrounds.
I've seen rich kids be mean & evil because they were never denied anything.
I've seen poor white AND black kids be mean & evil because they were mistreated, had NOTHING, or just because they could do it.
MEAN & NASTY comes in all colors, races, & backgrounds. It knows no limitations & has no boundaries.
I have a heart full of love for animals. They love people unconditionally and they endure ALOT before they wind up turning mean. They aren't just born mean.
I'd take this furry baby in a heartbeat & shower him with all the love he deserves and THEN some!
Recently, a woman was on television because her husband threw acid on her face. I think whoever did this needs to get a taste of what they did. Let the punishment fit the crime......

well, I did call them and send them an email telling them I would LOVE to adopt him & give him a loving home.
We'll see what happens. I bet ALOT of people are offering their hearts & homes.
I watch the animal television where they catch people for being abusive to animals, and te sentences they give these people is not harsh enough. I've seen horses die because people didn't feed them. They pay a fine & maybe 2 months in jail. They are lucky I am not a judge, they would do some SERIOUS time!

I got a response from Liz, whose email addy was on that site about Justice. I wrote and told them I would gladly take Justice in. Read below:

Thank you so much for your email, and concern for Justice.
Justice is at the vet receiving the medical treatment he so desperately needs. He is not only very badly injured, he is dangerously malnourished and dehydrated. He will not be ready to go into a home for many weeks.
Although his condition, and the treatments are extremely painful, he is a sweet, loving, and gentle soul. He seems to know that he is finally being taken care of, and that he will only know love the rest of his life. We will make sure of that.
We are asking everyone to please contact the Los Angeles Police Department and express your wishes for the monster responsible for this to be investigated, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Thank you so much for your thoughts! Justice can use all of them!
We appreciate you spreading the word, not only of Justice's story, but of the rescue. There are so many animals out there who need help!
Take care, and watch the web site for updates on Justice, and Willow! We ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER group. No staff, no employees, all volunteers giving our time, and our hearts to these dogs.
Sincerely,
Liz Hueg
I told her I would post her email here. Right now I am so poor I can hardly pay attention, but as soon as I can, I will send them some money.
There was no phone number listed for the LAPD, but maybe someone can find it or an email or something to ask the LAPD to punish the jerk who did this to Justice.

That was a SUPER-nice thing to do, Ginny...big props to you!

Jun 29 2006, 08:22 PM
Ohhh, no props or kudos wanted or needed. I did it because my heart went out to him. DBF will not take me to the Humane Society because he knows I would take each pet home with me if I could. Pet Smart usually has pets outside for adoption and when we need to go there, he makes sure I don't go with him, or that I stay in the truck. He knows I am likely to take one home with me. I am a big SOFTIE.
I worked with a couple of vets a few years back. Ex hubby used to call me Noah, because I would take abandoned pets and try to place them, or take them myself til I DID place them.
If I had a ranch or large yard, I would have a ton of animals on it.
Our dog is so spoiled people laugh at me. I get on the floor with him, hug him, play with him, talk to him, scratch his ears & his chest....he loves it!
He is a GREAT dog. Doesn't dig, no bad habits, (ok, he has gas once in awhile & when I tell him "You Stink", he gets up & walks away as if he KNEW what he did!), is friendly with other dogs, and is pampered to the gills! He's played with, hugged alot, talked to, we play catch, keep him indoors when its hot, he stays inside at night too. Most dogs don't have it this great! LOL
I don't like to see animals, kids, or people mistreated like that, and what they did to Justice, welll.........one day they will get theirs, and maybe then, they will reap what they sowed!
I'd spoil him rotten if I had him. Love & compassion go WAAAAAAAAAY beyond looks. If this dog was scarred for life & his fur never grew back, I would still love him because that is what he needs......someone to love and nurture him.
Sometimes I like animals more than people because:
they love you unconditionally
they don't argue with you
they are always happy to see you
they never seem to be in a bad mood
if they DO get mad, they are over it right away...they are quick to forgive
they ask so little from you
if they are not feeling well, they will still wag their tail when they see you
I could go on and on......they give so much and ask for so little. How can you NOT love them?
As for farm animals that we eat, (cows, pigs, chickens, etc), there is a humane way to slaughter them. I will confess, that when I see a truck hauling cattle or pigs on the freeway, I cry my eyes out on the spot.

I'd like to add that on this site, the one you listed in your initial post, Lisa, there is a place you can click on that shows dogs that are AVAILABLE for adoption.
There is on called Willow. She was malnourished, and I don't know if she became blind as a result of that malnourishment or if she was blind to begin with. She was used & abused as a breeder, & when she was no longer useful, they tried to send her to a slaughterhouse for dogs.
This is so sad. If I lived to be 1000, I will NEVER understand why people mistreat children & animals.....or one another for THAT matter!

What touched me the most was the sweet look on the dog's face. After all that abuse, he still seems a very gentle animal. I think that's remarkable.

That's a good point; they have many dogs available for adoption. Willow looks like a sweetie, too. Adopting a pet is such a good and viable option.

Something you said Armanis rings a bell with me. I know the son of a friend who at around the age of 11 or so, drowned a small dog in one of those kiddy pools. The family didn't do anything to the child b/c he had lost his father to a massive heart attack when he ws very little and he witnessed the entire thing. The family has always felt sorry for him. When asked why he drowned the dog (it was a small dog), he just wnated to see what it felt like. I told my friend that I thought her kid was sick and that her family was sicker to have allowed it. I recommended to her to take the boy to therapy. I didn't share with her what I really thought of him, for like Armanis, I thought 'future criminal in the making'. I figure he'll grow up to be a rapist or something. I know the boy, now 17, and I can't stand the site of him simply b/c I can't get past what he did.
He has turned out to be a terrible student, and terribly abusive towards his mom. He's a very mean and malicious kid. I don't have high hopes for him. He was never abused as a child, and both his parents spoiled him rotten, and he has and still has a very loving and attentive family (on his dad's side), but since his dad died they've let him get away with - murder - literally.
I didn't read the article posted b/c I too cannot stand to hear about those things, much less see graphic photos. But I have no 'understanding' or 'compassion' or anything for people that abuse animals and/or children. And like Armanis said, they almost always start young.

OMG, Irinadx, I choked on my tea when I read your comment!!! A child deliberately drowning an animal...even a tiny critter...is a sign of a deeply disturbed individual with a terribly cruel streak. How awful that the signs were not heeded. Honestly, I shudder to think of all the monsters-to-be who give off warnings which are ignored/unaddressed.
