Full Version: I Try Wanderlust Super-fume

I bought a bottle of Jeffrey Dame's new WANDERLUST SUPER-FUME, which he released this year.

It's just lovely...

It comes in a black velvet pouch with a black drawstring... The simple atomiseur, with a tall gold top, comes wrapped in black crepe paper, and bears its straightforward logo.

The takeoff of this fine, evocative fragrance suggests hyacinth, muguet and even-- wintergreen! The heart gradually emerges as a thirst-quenching, nearly edible harmony of sweet candied fruits and spicy cinnamon. The lingering base is a warm, nostalgic posy of colored flowers... rose and jasmin, supported by a base of lightest musk, tonka, and faintest oakmoss, all declaring a very romantic, warm summery fragrance.

Like LLP's BLUE WALTZ, WANDERLUST suggests-- to me-- a warm cobalt-colored twilight on an American 4th-of-July sometime during WWII. Spicy roses, luscious colored floralcy, sweet foods, a cooling lake, summery conviviality are all hinted at here.

A fragrance for all ages... An ingenue and a grandmother will both wear it with style and pleasure. Children will be enchanted by it. I envision it worn not with lots of winter, buttondown clothing-- but in summertime, with a cotton dress, a sundress, halter top, bare arms, bare back, decolletage, throat and shoulders... It is in EDP formulation, so it glows on the skin for several hours.

Thanks, Jeffrey, for a scrumptious, evocative fragrance.

Jeffrey also threw in a glass decant of genuine Turkish Rose Otto... an exorbitantly costly essence. It sends me... What a nice gift.

I didn't care for Wanderlust, the first couple times I tried it.

Rose and I usually don't get along. Wanderlust is enemy territory, scent-wise.

But I grew to appreciate it. I've worn it when the temperature dipped, lately.

Old-fashioned, slightly spicy, rose. Yes, it does hark back to the era of Leave It to Beaver, and I'm not being snarky - Wanderlust is a deliberate throwback perfume. Sort of an unearthed archaeological find, even though manufactured recently.

POLers who like "old classics" may want to try Wanderlust.

Isn't chemistry an odd thing? I would only wear Wanderlust in the dead of winter. It goes heavily incensey on the drydown, on my skin.

Yes I get the elegant classic feel with Wanderlust. Far as I know it is edp?
I get hints of my memories of Tigress that warm spicy feel so hard to find these days.

One Christmas, many years ago, I received Faberge's Woodhue, Aphrodisa, and Flambeau in a set...Wanderlust reminds me of Flambeau, a flamboyant rose scent.
