Jasmine and leather, and that's all I know.
I've been trying to explore the line lately and found a 1/3 ounce decant offered on the Bay.
so, should I?...should I not?

It's much more leather than jasmine to my nose. I like this scent but then there are very few leathers I don't like. If you are similarly inclined, then try it. If you are iffy when it comes to leather, stay away.

...thank you, C. that's helpful.
and yet, I'm still torn.
I was hoping for more of a true jasmine-leather mix.
but,
I do love Bandit & Cabochard, and those are certainly two of the high priestess leather scents.
hmm~what to do. ;)
)wish it were the toughest decision I had to make...)

not comparable to Bandit or Cabo, IMHO......do you like Dzing or Passage d'Infer?? More along those lines but less floral and more leather. It is not a heavy scent - but most Etros aren't. Have you ever smelled SMN's Nostalgia? I'd put it more in that family.

Reminds me of wet books or newspaper. Not an unpleasent smell, just different. I dont see the similarity to Bandit, however. Bandit is much smokier than Gomma. Gomma means rubber or "eraser" in Italian. I guess it does have sort of rubbery note, now that I think of it.

I have wanted this ever since I first sampled it at The Perfume House. It is really sharp and fresh, with leather, herbal, and smoky notes. I find it haunting - it reminds me of something from my past but I am not sure what. This isn't terribly helpful to you, I know.
Get it, and if you don't like it we can swap! ; D

I'm such an herbal nut, this might have decided it!
~thanks, greenlily61.
and, yep, you got it...if it's not for me, we'll work something out. ;)
...thanks, all.
oh, and yes, Colonia, I love the two you mention.
so that works, too. ;)

It's about the only leather I've met that I cannot wear. It has a burnt tire component to it that is just too rough for me. And there's not much in this world that is too rough for me.

Gomma is a very simple leather. I don't detect any jasmine. I quite like it, but the biggest reason I want a bottle is that it's great to layer over sweet orientals. Try it over Musc Ravageur or Shalimar for instance.

Gomma is really the only true leather that I've been able to wear. For me, it doesn't have a hint of smokiness- it's just clean, dry, leather jacket smell. And it's on the light side.
If you really love heavy, smoky leather scents this one will probably leave you wanting, I feel.
