Great idea for a thread, Elisha. I like the White Stripes, and I LOVE Stevie Ray Vaughn. I miss him. Thanks for the links!
Beatlesgirl
Thanks BG! And everyone please add your own, I love to what others posts on this thread

Okay, Elisha, be careful what you wish for! Here's something COMPLETELY different--bizarro experimental jazz, featuring one of my husband's music pals, Susan Alcorn. She's the one playing steel guitar.

She's good--pretty adorable, too. I think that bass player scared her! I have no clue who she is. Susan just travels all over the planet, playing with whoever. The whole experimental jazz world is a kind of a wacky global club. To really hear some of Susan's work, go here:

Elisha--you are really getting me turned on to the White Stripes. I liked 'em before, but seeing these performances is giving me a new perspective. I love Jack's current look--kind of an Edward Scissorhands charm happening there. The Youtube comments on Meg are funny--she is a hottie.
Beatlesgirl
Yeah, Jack White is awesome! I don't think that he is the best looking guy, at least he is not my type looks-wise but he just plays with sooo much passion and really puts his soul into it that it makes him very sexy to me. And Meg is the coolest!

Here is another one

REM Find a river, from their Automatic for the people album

This song is so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes

Today its Tears for Fears, what a voice Roland Orzabal has. They made some of the mose elegant 80's pop music IMO

Oh man, that is so worth watching all the way through, just to see the eagle morph into JD playing the guitar!

We loved to hate John Denver when I was in HS, but I had a JD epiphany a couple of years ago--those are great tunes. The man was a master songwriter. Really.

Somebody else better chime in here and save Elisha from our 70's time warp.

Here's the video for "Get Together", my favorite song from Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor:

Yes, she's pretentious but she makes me dance like no one's looking.

You are correct. :)

Moby - "Bodyrock"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcttvc1DL1E
Accolon
I like Moby. It's amazing how time flies. I have Moby records from 1992. Some of them are really hard and fast techno that I can't really listen to anymore. I'm aging!

Stardust "Music Sounds Better With You"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNQh3GbUW1k

This is one of my favourite dance tracks ever. I have actually seen people cry on the dancefloor when this comes on. It might be hard to believe, but it must have tapped into people's conciousness and touched them in a very special way at the time.
besotted
Accolon, that's a great song!

This is my favorite Roxy Music song, "More Than This"

That's my favourtite too! That and avalon. Not sure about the video though.

Robyn - Be Mine!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuLDXqOQxZw

I think this is the best pop song coming out of Sweden for ages. I admire Robyn a lot. She had a few international hits when she was very young, but she was disappointed in how she was handled by her record company so she started her own. A great role model for young women. She deserves to be big.

The video leaves a lot to be desired, for sure! But I do love that song.

Darude - "Sandstorm"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D44IOgk9ywY
Accolon
Ha! At least parts of that video is sequences from the video game Final Fantasy X.

Can I do one more? For the weekend?

Goldfrapp - Ride a White Horse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuB255cSIEg

Madonna loves Goldfrapp. I love Goldfrapp. I love Madonna. Madonna loves me.

Have a lovely weekend and hope more people want to play here.
